A 24KM day. First half going up second half mostly down. The down portion was tricky in spots with steep muddy paths and loose rocks. The scenery was great. Canola fields (yellow) makes it really pop. At the summit we crossed a ridge with tons of windmills as far as the eye can see. The electric company erected a monument to celebrate the pilgrims. It’s in all the Camino sites.
On the way down I passed some little old villages. The Village of Puente La Reina is where I am sleeping tonight. It’s a very old village with a famous bridge and the usual set of churches. We are still in the basque province of Navarra. Went for a stroll, picked up some food for tomorrow and had a little paella with a beer for dinner.
Best part of today, my single room has a bathtub … so legs snd feet are very happy right now.
today I walked alone for the most part. Did run into people who stayed at a couple of places along the way, mostly us folks. Tomorrow I am reunited with my NY state friends who walked with me the first two days. Be nice to see them and we plan to start the day together. Tomorrow will be the easiest as far as ups and downs, we will be entering the wine country. I will be going to Stella.
